The money question deserves a plain answer up front. This directory lists 18 free walking tours, every one run by an independent guide: all but two sit on GuruWalk, and the Fun English Old Town Walk by Heart of Munich Tours and the German-English Old City Walk by Free Tours Munich are listed on freetour.com. No reservation is ever taken here. A walker books on the platform where the guide publishes, and this page explains the whole revenue picture, including what does not exist.

How This Site Earns

Affiliate commission is the only income this site has. Reserve a place after following a link from here, whether on a guide's GuruWalk page or on the freetour.com listing for the Fun English Old Town Walk or the German-English Old City Walk, and that platform pays this site a fee. The price of the walk does not change because of it: all of them are free, pay what you want. No other money changes hands anywhere on the site.

Commission is the whole income. No guide has paid for a place in the directory, no operator sponsors a page, and no payment moves a walk up or down the listings. A walk appears because it is published on GuruWalk or freetour.com and can be reserved there. No link to any other booking platform appears anywhere on this site.

Nothing sold here carries a price from this site, because nothing is sold here at all. A reservation happens on GuruWalk, or on freetour.com for the Fun English Old Town Walk and the German-English Old City Walk, and the walk itself is free, pay what you want. Where a booking follows one of our links, the platform pays this site a commission. That cost never lands on the walker, since the walker decides what the walk was worth at the end.

What A Walker Pays, And What A Walker Does Not

No tour described on this site belongs to it. Each walk is the work of an independent local guide with a GuruWalk listing, apart from the Fun English Old Town Walk by Heart of Munich Tours, listed on freetour.com, where the reservation is made on the guide's own page there. Nothing is charged in advance: every walk is free, pay what you want, and the walker settles the amount when it ends. If a booking begins with a link from this site, the platform may pay this site a commission. That commission adds no charge, because pay what you want is the price.

The same discipline governs the rest of the pages. A sight is described as free only where the operator itself says so, and the condition always travels with the claim. St Peter's Church costs nothing to enter, yet the Alter Peter tower climb is EUR 5. The Residenz museum and treasury are ticketed even though the Hofgarten beside them is free. If something carries a charge, the page names the charge rather than hiding it behind a friendlier word.

What Money Cannot Buy Here

Where Every Number Comes From

Every score printed on this site is the platform's own figure, untouched by anything here. GuruWalk walks are rated out of 5, the freetour.com walks are rated out of 10, and the two systems are never blended into one number. Hence the Two-Hour English Stroll by Patrick shows 4.94 out of 5 across 816 GuruWalk reviews, and the Fun English Old Town Walk by Heart of Munich Tours shows 9.7 out of 10 across 1,205 freetour.com reviews. Both figures stand exactly as their platforms publish them, wherever they appear.

No single rule covers free entry in Munich, so each sight is stated on its own terms and nothing is rounded into a slogan. The NS-Dokumentationszentrum charges no admission. The Frauenkirche is free to enter, with a EUR 7.50 ticket for the south tower, and Peterskirche is free while the Alter Peter climb costs EUR 5. A Sunday visit to the Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst or the Sammlung Schack means a EUR 1 ticket each, written as a price and not as free entry. Where a tower or museum is ticketed, the page calls it ticketed, full stop.

Every Walk Belongs To Its Guide

Nothing on this page sells entry to anything. The Marienplatz square, the Hofgarten beside the Residenz, the paths of the Englischer Garten and the Olympiaberg viewpoint cost nobody anything, and the free-entry rules at museums and memorials are the city's own, not a deal arranged here. Free Things To Do In Munich gathers these places, describes what is open and what carries a ticket, and puts them on a map. Operating them is someone else's job entirely.

All 18 walks on this site are free, pay what you want, and every one belongs to the guide running it. This directory runs none of them. Each reservation is made through GuruWalk, or through freetour.com in the case of the English Free Walking Tour of Munich by Heart of Munich Tours, and the walker settles up with the guide at the end. The connection between this site and those platforms is a simple affiliate one: it earns a fee when a reader books through its links, at no cost to the reader or the walker.
